XIV Międzynarodowy Festiwal Gombrowiczowski
en.png

The idea of the festival is to stage performances based on texts by Witold Gombrowicz, prepared by theatres from Poland and other countries in the last two years. For over 25 years, the festival has been supported by Rita Gombrowicz. The Festival is also a competition in which performances are judged by an international jury.

The main idea of Gombrowicz was to look for form, so we want our Festival to welcome different art forms: films, videos, performance art, photographs and posters. They should be characterized by a unique idea, have an avant-garde approach to the subject and present it using the chosen technique.

The Festival takes place every two years, but activities related to it are ongoing. They include:

  • Competition for the most interesting poster related to Gombrowicz
  • Open meetings at which we read texts by Witold Gombrowicz
  • Competition for young directors who present their concepts for stage adaptations of a chosen text by Witold Gombrowicz.

This is the 14th edition of the festival, with many performances and fringe events: 11 theatres, including one from Hungary, 12 competition performances, an exhibition of posters related to Gombrowicz, concerts of esteemed artists inspired by Gombrowicz.

Every day, after the presentation of competition entries, we will have meetings with artists and creators at the Festival Club. All meetings will be streamed online on our social media profiles.
