Penetration

Witold Gombrowicz, Bruno Schulz

Penetration
DESCRIPTION

A few words about "Penetration" (...) Both Gombrowicz and Schulz - close by the time they lived in and a similar attitude to existence, but distant in the contexts of their writing - take up the topic of childhood ... They do it in diametrically different ways. In the case of Schulz, it will be an escape towards an idealized primordial beginning, which is a safe asylum enchanted in the territories of poetic time. In the case of Gombrowicz - striving to annihilate "immaturity and inability", painfully concluding that there is no escape from himself - a chap looking for a lost identity. (...) Their work in this context is very interestingly intertwined, complements, and for a sensitive and penetrating reader - it complements. These deliberations, hypotheses and assumptions gave rise to the idea of the play "Penetration". A play about the intertwining of youth with old age, about the inevitability of a grimace. A play in which Schulz gives Gombrowicz sublime, Gombrowicz Schulz - a comedy. Where one strengthens the other. Where pathos, irony and tragedy are a necessary condition for the existence of passion, the synonym and metaphor of which for two great writers is art.
