The Polish Dialogues

In The Polish Dialogues three centuries of Polish statehood look at each other in terms of mentality, customs and culture. We see the 17th century through the eyes of Rzewuski (Souvenirs of Soplica) and Kitowicz (an extraordinary Description of manners). Through Gombrowicz's texts, we look not only at the 20th century, but also at an exceptional artist with his very personal tone of expression. The 21st century will bring - I hope - a performance on the stage. Actors with their way of understanding today's world, the director, and the audience bringing the element of modernity to every performance.

It is difficult to say what will be the result of this looking in three mirrors at the same time. We will probably find out with surprise, and perhaps even despair, that we have not stand too far from the old, ancient years. That we are still deeply immersed in the noble Poland of the Saxon times, which, after all, do not bring us glory.

But it is worth building these mirrors - maybe we will see in them an image of a Pole not only strangely grotesque, but also beautiful, although a viewer will probably have to show really good will.
