The Dancer

It is a story about love, which sometimes takes the form of a morbid, even obsessive fascination with other people. The dancer is a stalker who entangles the patron in a web of dependence and intimidation in order to gain power over him, in order to arrange his life according to his whim, to accompany him constantly, even in the form of a scapegoat. The stalker does not understand the word no. He enters the patron's world with shoes and successfully demolishes it. In the performance, we will focus on what is going on in his head. It is not up to us to make a diagnosis, be it a psychopath or just a very lonely person, forcibly seeking contact with another person, we will not judge him, but we will try to understand. Gombrowicz was a master in describing human handicaps in an ironic form. It is interesting that the phenomenon of stalking was already known in his time. Certainly, however, today we have more of this type of obsessive relationship. So Dancer has its raison d'être today.

The production of DANCER, directed by Kinga Dębska, uses pre-war songs about love in modern arrangements by Łukasz Matuszyk and interpreted by wonderful actors from Radom. Anna Bosak is responsible for the choreography, and Natalia Kołodziej is responsible for the set and costumes.

The reference in Gombrowicz's text to "Księżniczka Czardasza" gave me the idea that we could creatively use various other works that would tell about love, obsession, madness and make this production more attractive. found him to have fun, be moved and that something would remain in him.

The performance takes part in the 6th edition of the Competition for the Staging of Old Works of Polish Literature "Klasyka Żywa".
