Ivona, Princess of Burgundia

Witold Gombrowicz

Ivona, Princess of Burgundia
DESCRIPTION

Prince Fillip chooses the wrong bride. This ridiculous step turns each character's life upside down. Seeing Ivona, they feel they have the right to reveal their most brutal and darkest sides. But why do they look for nectar in their souls to quench their thirst? Yvonne is with impunity clothed in a body, a reliable scapegoat. It is also a mirror; but no one knows what can happen when we look at them. This is the law of the jungle, social Darwinism ... The aesthetics of this piece are subtle contradictions, like a lethal poison in a beautiful perfume bottle. We encourage the viewer to face himself, to open doors that are known to exist, that frighten us, but we must be bold and look behind them.

(...) The wonderful "Iwona ..." realized by Pablito No Clavó Nada is a masterpiece of directing, full of allusions and rich with the tiniest details, a fascinating fruit of the collective work of all filmmakers.
(...) Here, tragedy meets Comedy: laughter does not prevent amazement at eccentricity. In the midst of the absurd, in the snares of ridiculous people who want to murder her, like Alice standing in front of Queen Karo, Iwona is an outsider. Art refers to a number of aesthetic conventions, such as commedia dell'arte, expressionism, baroque and many others. Izabela is a femme fatale straight from film noir, the chamberlain is a bellwether, two young courtesans come from burlesque, and ugly, sinister aunts look as if they have escaped from a panopticon. The Queen in some ways resembles an opera diva, while the hesitant, indolent Prince and his father, the King, are associated rather with expressionist, dark Pierrots. The poetics and aesthetics of Bob Wilson and Marcel Marceau resound throughout the performance. A visual feast!

(...) The staging seems to focus on artificiality; resembles Tim Burton's imagination with his characteristic red and black sensitivity, visible, for example, in Alice in Wonderland. Costumes, makeup, playing, music, all emphasize the artificiality of the text.
(...) On the night of the premiere, the performance ended with a standing ovation in a room full of audiences who thanked Pablito No Clavó Nada's troupe for this delightful journey as if out of the dreams of a madman (...).

From viewers' comments ... (www.alternativateatral.com)

Diego: Amazing art. An encouragement to rethink your humanity. It is about the tension between such dualities as beauty - ugliness, poverty - wealth, honor - shame, royal family - people, silence - sounds. Wonderful emotion and laughter. Congratulations!

Sol: Great. They found the right way to tell the story. Each of the characters is special and when taken together they become one.

Gisella: Excellent play ... Very well played. Great actors, music and costumes. You can feel the hand of an outstanding director. I recommend it the most.

Facundo: The joy and euphoria of the game are mixed with frustration and shame. Fortunately, laughter protects us from violence. Divine, unique roles.

Daniela: In my opinion, this is an outstanding art where you can find reasons to laugh, but also a very interesting plot and social concepts that are worth considering. Extra.

Silvia: I liked it very much. Acting at an amazing level. Must see.
